Something for everyone

Wow, it’s almost a year since my last post..
Anyways… Did you knew there is a huge youtube movement right now on Zecchino D’Oro videos?
New updates every almost day, of course there are years and years of footage, Zecchino D’Oro had the 50 years show last year.

I always liked the beautiful italian music and this songs are basically memories from my childhood.
There is one song that I love the most, it’s called Goccia doppo goccia. (Drop after drop). It has beautiful melody and powerful yet simple lyrics.

The song was first played in 1995, i think. I am not sure if it won the competition but it stuck to my head all this years and I found out that the composer himself, Franco Fasano played it himself at the piano on the 5oth edition last year.

Here is the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVjHVIje1Mw

I wanted to play it myself so badly that I had to contact the composer himself for the piano chords, so now I have 2 internet friends connected to Zecchino, Franco and Alessio.

Here are the email replies regarding the chords, maybe I’ll do a video playing it someday, right now I have no time (for the video, because I already can play it)

Ciao.
My name is Pex, I’m a Zecchino Fan :)
Thank you for writing such beautiful songs. All my favorite songs are written by you!
I am a Romanian but I live in Spain.
I know Alessio who sung in the choir in 1995, etc :) Hes my internet friend :)

So, of course, I have to ask you something. I know this might be annoying, and I know its a relative simple song BUT..

can you give me the piano chords for Goccia doppo goccia?

I started playing piano 2 years ago.
Thank you very much, I am listening to your songs.
Bye!

I LOVE THE INTERNET :)

Fallen Trooper

As I told you in the last post, I decided to do all most of my shopping online. Because you can really buy WHATEVER YOU WANT, not what you find in the shops, from the last year.
So I saw this type of shoes (Skateboard shoes) on somebody in a Disney comedy series and I thought they look super cool. I mean sporty, but cool, street.
So I searched the net and I found the best deal from a german online shop.
Five days after buying them, I received my package.

Fallen Trooper

Let me tell you that I have never experienced such pleasure from opening a box, since I bought my Ipod.
The box contained the shoes, a guys magazine, some publicity, a Fallen catalog, a Fallen skateboard poster, a chocolate drink and the best of all, spare shoelaces (white ones, which I will use since it looks better than with the black ones) .

The shoes are great, probably the best sport shoes I ever had.
So thumbs up for Fallen and frontlineshop.com

Barcelona shopping spree

Uff. I am tired and spent :))
Hours and hours of shopping.
First I went to Vans official shop. Bummer. They had only 5% of the entire Vans catalog and of course not what I was looking for. Throughout the spree, I found shops that had much more stock from them!
Then I went to El Corte Ingles where I bought some presents for my bro etc etc. Then I went to Fnac where I bought an Ipod Nano for my niece and a Nikon L11 for my other niece.
There were Harry Potter fans everywhere buying the damn book :))
Of course I eat at McDonalds. Ok, before you judge me, imagine that where you live there is NO MAC and you haven’t eat a Cheeseburger since February. Eating there was like yummy yummy luxury.
So… quite an exciting day only that I am xxx euros lighter and very very tired.

I swear that from now on I’ll only buy online. Pinky swear! :))

Finally I have the Gold status.
That means I have the possibility to bulk import campaigns, ads and keywords into Yahoo MS.
Big thank you to YAHOO!!

Bohemian Rhapsody on my keyboard

Days ago, Freddie Mercury was in the news in Romania related to some jerk with money who spoked like dirt about him.
Then I revised my Queen albums and remembered what a masterpiece Bohemian Rhapsody is.
So I tried the easy part on my keyboard, more rapidly because I like it up tempo :)
Here is the result after some hours of practicing. I made some mistakes at the end and I was desperately looking for the final Eb:)
But please don’t shoot the piano player, I never had a piano lesson in my life.

Ask sponsored listings part II

Last time I wrote about trying low end PPC engines I was begging Ask to take my money from the credit card.
And they took…

Once my credit card was approved into their system, I uploaded in a bulk all my MSN campaign for one of the merchants that I am affiliate with.
The first big mistake was letting contextual adds ON. The contextual ads are those that appear on various sites from ASL network partners. Soon I was getting traffic from these sites (with these searches for keywords that I never advertised):

http://www.theuniquesearch.com (”female peeing”, “Bisexual Females”)
http://www.smartseekerz.com (”Female Sexual Dysfunction”, “Female Strippers”)
and many more like these.

The advertised product is “Flora Femal” “a unique blend of pollen extracts from seven organically cultivated flowers grown in the southern region of Sweden”.
Why would anyone seeking “Pictures Of Female Models” click on an ad that says: “Flora Femal - $16.24. Save 40% off” ?

So I tried to switch the contextual advertising OFF but I didn’t find the switch, even after consulting the online help.
Finally I discovered it but it’s very very hidden from view and you really have no choice that put up with this crap. So the first red flag for Ask.

Then the second red flag.
I put a limit of 50$ per campaign per day yesterday. Today my credit card was charged 100$ in addition to the 50$ initial deposit. So now I have 140$ in credits but I only spent 10$ on the crappy traffic that I’ve got.
This was my second mistake: at all time you must have credits exceeding 3 x the sum of the limits of all the campaigns. Now I am glad that I only had one campaign. I immediately changed my budget to 5$/day. Probably today my ads aren’t even showing. That’s the result of a greedy strategy from Ask.

So I would wait for a week to see if I get good traffic, anyway I have to spend now the 140$ in credits that I have with them. This could take months with the low traffic that they get.

It is fashionable these days to post some checks. This one from Shoemoney inspired me a little. He even has a user gallery with people posting checks and transfers.
So I thought that maybe I would post some too. These are not the biggest and not the smallest I got. Bear in mind that I use some of this to fund the PPC traffic (usually 50%).
Linkshare and Adsense transfers

Going multi-monitor

Well, I have to say this is money well spent.
I finally have 3 monitors, I had a 17” and I bought 2 more.
For now, only 2 are working simultaneous because my on-board VGA refuses to start when another AGP card is inserted. I got pissed off and ordered a PCI (yes PCI) sister card for my G5200 so I can’t wait to play Flight Simulator X on 3 LCD’s.

What I can tell you is that even with only 2 monitors working, the productivity has increased. Repeat: the productivity has increased.

Here is a little picture of my configuration.
Damn, now I need a new table for this :))
My new display configuration!

Trying low-end PPC engines.

I was really fed-up with Google because of the latest Adwords bullshit, the so called “landing page quality score”. I am old enough in this to recognize a hand-job when I see one. And this was done by hand. I am 100% sure and I am not alone: check the webmasterworld tread and the digitalpoint tread here.
Well, since then, I am back (shtttt) but I realized that depending so much on the Google traffic was not healthy at all. Of course I do Adcenter and Panama too but I was thinking of trying Ask.com for the 3% PPC traffic.

They only accept credit cards and belive it or not I didn’t had one since today. Yes I asked my bank for a CC just for this. And today I have it brand new shinny blue Visa card.

So. With that done, I tried again but they rejected my card. Booo-hoo
Ask!!!! Wake up darling, take the money, come on you bastard :))
Now I wait for the customer support to “explain” what went wrong.

I’ll do another post when I know something.

The Hello world post

I am kinda new with wordpress so I think it’s appropriate to start with a classic hello world!
Let’s see some new themes now…
